  • Shake the Cocktail: Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. Look for a frost on the shaker's outside, indicating the mixture is well chilled.
  • Serve: Strain the chilled cocktail into a hurricane glass filled with fresh ice cubes. Serve immediately to enjoy the refreshing taste of summer.
  • Garnish: Cut a thin round slice, make a small slit from the center to one edge, and place it on the rim of the glass.

Notes

You don’t really need a shaker to make this cocktail – a spoon or straw will do just fine.
You could add a tiny sprig of mint to your drink to make it more visually appealing. Adding this will also give a fresh scent that goes well with the citrusy flavor of the cocktail.
You can put a maraschino cherry in the drink either by dropping it in, or by attaching a small cocktail skewer to it. It will go to the bottom of the glass and provide a nice contrast to the blue color of the drink.
If you’re into fun and tropical vibes, you might want to open up a small paper umbrella and attach it to the side of the glass. This is a classic summer cocktail addition that can take your cocktail to the next level.

More Tips:

Before making your cocktail, put the hurricane glass in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. A chilled glass will keep your drink cooler for longer, enhancing the refreshing taste.

To get the best flavor, make sure to use good quality vodka and blue Curaçao. The quality of the alcohol really affects the taste of your cocktail. Blue Curaçao can also be used to make a fun sharkbite cocktail.

Use a jigger to measure your liquids accurately. Getting the proportions right is crucial to achieving a well-balanced flavor in your cocktail. When shaking your cocktail, use large ice cubes instead of smaller ones. This way, your drink will be chilled without getting too diluted.

Before pouring, taste a small amount of your cocktail to see if you like it. If needed, adjust the flavor by adding a little more lemonade or alcohol.

If you’re making these for a party, you can easily make a big batch in a pitcher. Just keep the ratios the same, and then you can sit back and enjoy the party!

  • Vodka: Instead of vodka, you can use white rum to give it a slightly sweeter and tropical taste.

  • Lemonade: Limeade or soda water mixed with fresh lemon juice to give it a different citrus flavor.

Remember that if you choose to make substitutions, it may affect how the drink tastes and looks. But don’t hesitate to try different combinations to find what you like best!

Storage Instructions

If you have a cocktail left over and want to save it, it’s better to consume it within 24 hours. To keep the flavor fresh and prevent ice from diluting it further, store it in a sealed bottle or container in the fridge.

It’s not advisable to freeze this cocktail as the alcohol in it doesn’t freeze well in regular home freezers. Also, the lemonade’s texture and taste may be negatively impacted when thawed.
