Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Serving Size 1 drink

Equipment

  • cocktail glass
  • measuring jigger
  • spoon or stirrer
  • ice scoop or tongs

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces spiced rum
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 ounces lemon-lime soda

Instructions

  • Prepare the glass. Mix a cocktail glass with ice cubes to chill.
  • Mix the drinks. Pour the spiced rum and pineapple juice into the glass over the ice.
  • Add the fizz. Before serving, top the drink with lemon-lime soda to add a refreshing fizz.
  • Garnish and serve. Optionally, garnish with a maraschino cherry and a few mint leaves for a touch of color and an extra burst of freshness.

Notes

It’s best to chill your spiced rum, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda before mixing to keep your drink cold and refreshing with less ice dilution.
Pick a spiced rum you like and make sure it’s good quality. The rum’s taste can affect your cocktail’s overall flavor, so choosing one with a taste profile that you enjoy (such as a hint of vanilla or cinnamon) will make it even better.
If you want your cocktail to be sweeter or less sweet, you can adjust the amount of pineapple juice or lemon-lime soda. Start with the recommended measurements and then make changes according to your taste.
Also, dark rum is a great alternative, and it’s really tasty!

More Tips:

Serve the cocktail immediately after adding it. This way, you can taste the satisfying fizz as you drink it.

Although maraschino cherries and mint are recommended, you can experiment with other garnishes, such as a pineapple slice, a lime twist, or even a small rosemary sprig for a distinctive flavor.

About the Ingredients

There are plenty of simple swaps you can make for this recipe:

  • Spiced Rum: Try using dark rum for a richer flavor or coconut rum for a sweeter taste.
  • Pineapple Juice: Swap Pineapple Juice for orange or mango juice to switch things up.
  • Lemon-Lime Soda: You can use club soda instead of Lemon-Lime Soda for a less sweet taste or ginger ale for a spicier flavor.
  • Maraschino Cherry: A slice of lemon or lime instead of a Maraschino Cherry for garnish is a good alternative and gives your drink a citrusy twist.

Remember, each substitution will change the way your cocktail tastes, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find your own favorite combination!

Storage Instructions

For the best taste, enjoy your cocktail, freshly mixed and chilled.

But if you have any leftovers of this cocktail, keep them refrigerated in a sealed container or a pitcher with a lid. They will stay fresh for up to 24 hours. The soda will become flat but that’s not a big deal.

Give this recipe a try for a refreshing and simple drink that will absolutely be a hit.
