Candy Cane Ice Cream
A sweet vanilla ice cream is blended with crushed peppermint candies to create a delicious Christmas treat.
Heat milk, cream, and sugar in a pan
While it heats, combine egg yolks with sugar. Beat until it turns lighter yellow.
Slowly add the egg-milk mixture into the pan with the milk and cream. Return to the heat until it thickens.
Off the heat, add salt and vanilla. Now strain the mixture using a strainer or cheesecloth. Chill overnight.
Remove custard from fridge and set up ice cream maker, according to manufacturer's instructions.
Churn until it is the consistency of soft-serve ice cream, then add the crushed candy cane a cup at a time.
Cover and refreeze for 2-4 hours until hardened. Scoop and serve. It will last up to a week in the freezer.
