Apple Cider Rum Slushies

The easiest cocktail in the world, this refreshing autumn treat is just two ingredients and five minutes of prep time.

Equipment

  • 1 Gallon-sized freezer bag
  • 13 x 9 baking dish

Ingredients

  • ½ gallon apple cider
  • 2 cups spiced rum

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients. Pour ½ gallon of apple cider and 2 cups of spiced rum into a gallon-sized freezer bag. Seal the bag carefully to avoid any spills. Place the sealed bag in a 13 x 9 baking dish to catch any potential leaks.
  • Freeze. Place the dish with the bag in the freezer. Freeze for at least 5 hours or until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency.
  • Serve. Remove the bag from the freezer. Pour the slushy mixture into cups. If the mixture is too solid, let it sit on the counter for about 15 minutes to soften slightly before serving.

Notes

You can use many kinds of alcohol in this recipe: cinnamon whiskey, most bourbons, and apple brandy are all good choices.   
If you reduce the alcohol, the cider will freeze harder and may require you to briefly thaw it on the counter before serving.
