Here’s what you’ll need to make this fun springtime snack:

  • Rice Chex cereal
  • semisweet chocolate chips
  • creamy peanut butter
  • butter
  • powdered sugar
  • spring M&Ms
  • mini marshmallow
  • freeze-dried strawberries

With the base ingredients you can also make Easter muddy buddies and just swap the marshmallows and strawberries for some frosted animal crackers.

🍴Instructions

Step One: make coating

Measure out the cereal into a very large bowl.

Get a bowl that can go in the microwave. Put chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in the bowl and heat it for 90 seconds. Stir halfway through. Pour the mixture over cereal and mix it until everything is covered.

Step Two

Measure powdered sugar into a very large (2 gallon or larger) plastic bag and shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool.

Step three

Add dried strawberries, M&Ms, and marshmallows to coated cereal and shake again. Serve in a clean bowl or directly out of the bag.

🥫 Storage instructions

Store any leftovers in an airtight container or resealable bag at room temperature for 4 days or so.

Make sure the container is kept away from heat sources like direct sunlight or a hot oven. The heat can cause the chocolate to melt.

Corn Chex are fine!

Can I use a different type of chocolate for this recipe?

Yes, feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate. Dark chocolate or white chocolate chips can be used in place of the semi-sweet ones for a different flavor.

    Yes- great recipe! We, too, never tire of this recipe and is a favourite… but never added extra treats and totally look forward to getting out the door to the store for those additions…especially the dried strawberries that will give this great recipe an explosion of flavour!
