Strawberry Rosé Sangria

A pretty pitcher drink that does not require bartending, shaking, muddling, or standing in the kitchen while everyone else has fun. Just slice the fruit, pour the wine, and let the refrigerator do the work.

Two glasses of sangria with pitcher and background

The dry rosé keeps it crisp, the strawberries make it summery, and the orange liqueur gives it just enough sweetness and depth. And really all you’re doing is slicing some fruit and opening a bottle of wine.

The only real rule is this: give it time to chill. The fruit needs those few hours to soften and flavor the wine.

what You’ll Need

  • Glass pitcher (I mean… or plastic! Whatever!)

Scaling up: you can absolutely double this and put it in a big dispenser-style container or enormous pitcher. Just tap the 2x or 3x buttons in the recipe card and it’ll do that math for ya.

  • 1 bottle dry Spanish rosé wine, 750 mL: Use a dry rosé, not a sweet one
  • 1/2 cup Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cold club soda
  • Ice, for serving Use this in the glasses, not the pitcher. Ice in the pitcher will water everything down.

Instructions

Step One: Mix the Wine and Liqueur

rosé wine and Cointreau in pitcher.

Pour the rosé and Cointreau into a large glass pitcher and stir gently.

Step Two: Add the Fruit

Add the sliced strawberries, oranges, and lemon to the pitcher. Stir just enough to make sure the fruit is tucked down into the wine.

If a few pieces float, that is fine.

Step Three: Chill

Cover the pitcher and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours. You can make it up to 24 hours ahead, which is very helpful if you are hosting and already have enough things happening.

This is the part that makes it taste finished. The strawberries and citrus slowly flavor the wine, and everything softens into one drink instead of wine plus fruit.

Step Four: Add Club Soda and Serve

Right before serving, stir in the cold club soda. Fill glasses with ice, pour the sangria over the top, and make sure each glass gets some of the soaked fruit.

Fresh mint is pretty if you have it. If you do not, no one will be upset.

Storage Instructions

If you are making this ahead, leave out the club soda until serving time. The wine, liqueur, and fruit can sit in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving.

Leftovers will keep for about 2 days in the fridge, but they are best without the club soda added. Once the bubbles go in, it is more of a serve-now situation.

More Pretty Party Drinks

Serving ideas: This is a good one for showers, cookouts, book club, Mother’s Day, or any summer dinner where you want something pretty on the table without making individual drinks. Serve it with easy make-ahead food and keep the pitcher cold until everyone arrives.

  • If you want another fruity pitcher drink, try this strawberry peach sangria. It is a little softer and sweeter, especially good when peaches are in season.
  • For something bubbly and party-ready, make prosecco sangria.
  • If you are fully in berry season, this triple berry sangria is another good one to keep in rotation.
  • For a non-alcoholic option, strawberry lemonade is always worth making when berries are good.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a dry Spanish rosé wine rather than a sweet one – this allows the natural fruit flavors to shine through.
