Spring Farmhouse Desserts

Longer days, the first flowers, warm breezes, and strawberries. There’s plenty to celebrate in springtime in the country. And that means you need all my favorite farmhouse desserts for spring.

Fresh air and sunshine tends to arrive before the actual produce shows up, but that’s okay. For these homemade desserts, we’ll rely on lemons, lavender, and sneak in some strawberries for May.

Working with Your Ingredients

Strawberries: Both fresh and frozen work in most recipes

Lemons: Choose bright lemons that feel heavy for their size for the most juice

Rhubarb: If using frozen, don’t thaw before baking

Fresh Flowers: All edible flowers should be unsprayed and properly identified

Spring desserts don’t need to be complicated to be special. Whether you’re making a simple lemon cake or trying your hand at that strawberry tart, these recipes are meant to be enjoyed without stress.

Don’t wait for a special occasion – sometimes a sunny afternoon is reason enough to bake something sweet.
