You’ll need the following for this easy DIY:

  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Guest size soap mold

🍴Instructions

Step One: Measure

measured ingredients in stainless steel pot

Measure the beeswax, coconut oil, avocado oil, almond oil, and shea butter into a medium saucepan. Use a digital scale to make sure you get the right amounts.

Step Two: Melt

melting oils and butters

Melt the oils over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Do not leave them unattended, as beeswax is very flammable. The butters will melt first and the beeswax pellets will take longer. This is normal, so don’t worry.

Step three: pour

pouring into milk silicone mold

When all of the components are melted, add the fragrance oil. Stir it in well. Pour the mixture into the mold quickly.

Step FouR: unmold

turning bar out of mold

Allow the bars to harden for 4-8 hours before you turn them out.

🥫 Storage instructions

These bars don’t need to be refrigerated, but they should be kept relatively cool, out of direct sunlight and very hot spaces.

Lotion bars are easier to make and carry around than traditional lotion. They do not sink into the skin as quickly but are very nourishing.

Can I use essential oil for fragrance?

Yes, but keep in mind it will be in prolonged contact with your skin, so make sure it’s safe for the skin first.

How long will they last?

Indefinitely. They should last years.

Notes

Lotion bars do not need any cure time and be used immediately.
Don’t leave in a hot car or you’ll have a mess.
Beeswax pellets are the easiest to melt and measure.  White or yellow are both fine; I use white in these images.
